Probably one of, if not the most popular Iranian dish; and it’s also super liked by small kids. The mixture of split peas, tomato paste, potato and dried limes makes for the best homey/comfy feeling. While our Gheimeh with potato is a vegetarian dish, you can always add chunks of beef or chicken breast to turn it into a super food. This dish is used for “Nazri Food” during the religious month of Muharram. Nazri literally means “votive” and it is the act of making food for the poor.
